We have
for long viewed and used components of information
technology as a set of enabling tools that allow the
human resource of any organization to reach its full
potential in pursuit of excellence. This in our view is
made possible by IT at two levels viz., the optimizing
and the evolving levels.
Firstly,
at the work optimizing level, IT can free the
human resource from bondage to mundane (i.e. routine
tasks), by automating all / maximum key information
processes of the organization. The freed human
spirits in an organization can then focus their
faculties to creative or intelligent response levels, where
people are naturally inclined to give out their best.
Here, the challenge lies in creating responsive and
flawless information systems, as suited to the growing
needs of the organization.
At the
second level of evolving, IT is constantly
providing newer, cheaper, user-friendly, efficient and
effective products and services, which are ready
to upstage the older devices and routines. In this
case, the challenge lies in anticipating and possibly
reinventing the future.
