Inspiration for Concept
The business concept of ScanTrax Systems as an IT
company has been derived as an analogy from an air
defence concept of Track While Scan radar ( TWS radar ).
A TWS
radar has two antennas each radiating one
electromagnetic beam. The Scan antenna has
a wide beam and long range. It rotates 360 degrees all
round and covers the complete horizon. It scans the
horizon for intruding air borne object and serves to
give prior warning.
Simultaneously,
a Track antenna with a narrow beam and short
range, tracks ( Trax ) those intruding air borne objects
which have come closer to the TWS radar. The
tracking radar is interested in these
"targets" because they may need to be engaged
with own air defence SAMs and Guns. Hence the data of
these "immediate targets" is computed and fed
to air defence weapon systems so that the latter can
engage them when they come in the limits of effective
engagement range.
